Beautiful Ballerinas
Nowhere is the beauty of the human body in motion more apparent than in the art of dance. The perfection of that art is personified in the beauty and aplomb of the ballerina. The dramatic shapes of modern ballet are at once graceful, elegant, sensuous and visually compelling.
My Beautiful Ballerinas project began with the perfect subject. I could never imagine a more fulfilling way to pursue my passion for photography than to have the privilege of capturing this creature of perfect beauty and poise while creating art for the world to enjoy!
Artist Bio:
Born in Los Angeles, Jim Brammer first discovered photography when he started using a Polaroid camera to shoot detailed photographs of computer components while writing IBM service training manuals. Intrigued by the photographic world, he began merging computer knowledge with the technical underpinnings of photography.
For a number of years, Jim worked in corporate production, recording sound tracks, creating slides and programming computers to drive multi-media computer-animated slide shows utilizing 15 projectors on 3 screens for major employee recognition events. While Jim’s corporate career flourished, he traveled the world several times over with camera in hand. After retiring from IBM, Jim continued to follow his passion for the art of photography and established a boutique portrait studio in Los Angeles. He was elected President of Professional Photographers of Los Angeles County while also growing a list of corporate Clients for his commercial photography business.
In addition to his commercial work, Jim’s creative pursuits have led him to fine art photography. His award-winning work has been featured in numerous galleries around the county, including solo shows at f/9 Gallery in Culver City, California, and the Calabasas Library Gallery in Calabasas, California; group shows at Sargent’s Fine Art Gallery in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii; ADC Building Bridges Gallery at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica, California; Dragonfly Gallery at Rosedale in Austin, Texas; Translight Photography Gallery at the Brewery in Los Angeles; and f/9 Photography Collective in Culver City, California. Jim currently works and lives in Los Angeles.
Artist Statement:
I love the art of light – sculpting, shaping and controlling that big, white, bouncy stuff called light, which is a good thing because without light there would be no photography.
I love the art of soul – capturing the essence of the human spirit. My fine art photography seeks to capture my subjects in one very special, unique moment in time - as very real, and very much themselves.
I love the art of place – creating a unique experience for the viewer through photographs that will excite, delight and inspire for years to come.
I am truly fortunate to pursue my passion as an artist. Using light from the camera's lens as my paintbrush, I capture life’s inspirational moments – the art of soul and place – to tell stories of beauty, passion and emotion through Fine Art Photography.
